Farm activities include:- enjoying a picnic at the two picnic areas down by the creek. Walking through the bush, there several graded walks around the property of varying difficulty, ride mountain bikes to various locations or tour the gardens.

Picnic Areas
There are 2 picnic areas available exclusively for our guests, they include rough sawn timber table and benches, camp fire (fire permit permitting) and rubbish bin.

 Platypus Hole

Platypus Hole, named after an
illusive platypus which is supposed
to live in the water hole, is next to
the causeway on Turner's creek.
It has 2 picnic tables placed under
a leafy gum tree and a spot for

a camp fire.

Cow Paddle Hole, is a water hole named after an old cow that used to swim through the creek to get around the fence, and  graze on the lush grass growing on the other side. Strangely enough she would return back each day to the correct paddock to ensure she did not raise suspicion. It took us several months to figure out what was going on, when we did, we ate her (joking).

Walking Tracks

Creek Walk (1km - Easy)
This is a pleasant walk on mostly level ground that takes you around the homestead yards. Leave the mail box and head towards the creek. Go through the "Creek Walk" gate then follow the front of the house. The original stone wall, which was built in the 1800's, is still clearly visible. Continue down past the windmill and the failed weir. Follow the path, it will take you down past the causeway, the Platypus Hole picnic area, round past the Cow Paddle Picnic Area to the old stock yards. Go through the gates and follow the wooden picket fence back to the mail box.

Horse Paddock Walk. (2km - Easy-Medium)
Start at the mail box and follow the creek walk as above. At the Causeway turn right and cross it. 200 metres up the hill turn left and follow the track. This will take you along the top side of the creek and gives you a birds eye view of the Braeside property. From the viewing area above the creek walk down the fence line and go through the gate and walk down to the creek. Cross the creek and you are at the Cow Paddle picnic area. Go through the gates at the old stock yards and follow the wooden picket fence back to the mail box.

Duck Dam Walk (3km - Easy-Medium)
Start at the mail box and follow the creek walk, turn right at the causeway and cross it. 200 metres up the hill turn right. There is a ladder to help you cross the fence. Follow the path and it will take you past a small dam and then onto the larger dam, Duck Dam. Walk around the dam wall to the other side. Follow the path to the fence and cross the fence using the second ladder.  There is a great viewing spot here over looking the homestead. Follow the path down past the failed weir, past the popla trees, cross the creek at the old stone causeway, then through the gate and back to the mail box.

Mountain Bike Tracks
(Mountain Bikes not available until April 15)

Mountain Bike to 4 ways, Western Lookout

Western Creek (easy)

South Western Corner (easy)

The Braeside Reserve
The reserve is a 4 acre grassed area bordered on one side by an ancient picket fence and a few towering gum trees. It’s ideal for a game of bush cricket or just throwing a ball around. At night massive flood lights illuminate age old gum trees and produce a fairy-tale like scene.

Braeside Mountain Garden
(By appointment only)
As a guest of Braeside we are happy to arrange an appointment for you to view the Braeside Mountain gardens. The garden features almost 30 'garden' rooms set upon a spectacular mountain vista. Times are subject to the availability of the garden curator.
