With transport limited to horse drawn vehicles and roads restrictive, properties traditionally had a vegetable garden to supply the kitchen with fresh seasonal produce to feed the family, workers and an endless array of travellers. The kitchen garden was tended daily and the most important garden to the homestead community. |
