In the late 1800s a renovation was done to the Homestead which saw the installation of some unique chamferboards over the top of the Iron bark slab core.
Chamferboard is pretty much a Queensland term, the rest of Australia calls it 'weatherboard'! The most usual aspect of these boards is their width. The are about 14” high and are made of pine. Only two sections of the house still have the exterior facing Chamferboard. While painting we had to replace some small sections due to water damage from a leaking gutter, but apart form that the timber has held up well, with no white ant damage.
